Materials:

Rocks (ones from the yard are great!)

Bath Salt

Reusable Plastic Crafting Bowls

Nail Polish (and top coat!)

Nail Polish Remover

Toothpicks

Hot Glue Gun

Glitter (optional)

Metallic Gold Paint (optional)

Instructions:

Preparing the Colored Salt:

  1. Pour nail polish remover in a few different bowl, enough to coat the bottom.

  2. Choose nail polish colors and add a dime sized amount of color into each bowl.

  3. Use a toothpick to mix the nail polish with the polish remover.

  4. Add enough salt to absorb all the liquid, lightly mix. To deepen a color, add more polish.

Applying Salt to Rocks (Two Ways!)

Kid-Friendly:

  1. Choose rock and paint a layer of polish top coat to one side for your colored salt to stick to.

  2. Apply colored salt generously, using additional top coat to further secure the salt.

  3. Continue layering until covered.

  4. Add an optional dusting of glitter and use gold metallic paint to add designs to your rock.

Glue Gun Method:

  1. Choose your rock and apply a small amount of hot glue on one side.

  2. Apply colored salt generously to hot glue, repeat in sections until the side is covered.

  3. Add an optional dusting of glitter and use gold metallic paint to add designs to your rock.
